Qcenz Feature – Changing Wi-Fi Password
May 8, 2019 By / Categories support

Qcenz customers may feel the need to change their Wi-Fi network password owing to various reasons. As of now, there is no straight forward option to do the same from Qcenz mobile app, and has to be done using a workaround. Follow the step by step guide to get this done

    • Backup Device Manager Settings

The ‘Device Manager’ section of app lists all Qcenz devices that are added to the Wi-Fi network. Clicking on each device will open the ‘device settings’ page.

We recommend taking a snapshot of all the device settings pages so that the settings could be referred to when adding back the devices to the Wi-Fi network. Also note the unique device identifier ‘device ID’ for each device. We will need it when we add these devices back to the network

    • Remove Devices From Wi-Fi Network

After taking backups of current device settings, all devices have to be removed from the Wi-Fi network

      1. Please make sure the Mobile Data is switched off at this point and phone is connected to the Wi-Fi network
      2. Open ‘device settings’ page for a device, choose option ‘factory reset’ & save the settings
      3. In the next few seconds the device Wi-FI LED will start blinking (alternating between green & red) and the device will be removed from Qcenz app
      4. Repeat this step for all devices
    • Change Wi-Fi Password On Router & Qcenz App
      1. Open the management portal of your Wi-Fi router and change the password associated with your SSID. Make sure you remember the password
      2. Wait for the router to restart and then add your phone / tablet to the Wi-Fi network
      3. Open the ‘Property Wifi’ settings from hamburger menu (see image below)

      4. Enter new password in the Wi-FI network connection settings

      5. Save settings
  • Add Devices To Wi-Fi Network
    1. Ensure device Wi-Fi indicator LED is blinking (alternating between green & red). If Wi-Fi LED is red and not blinking, then turn off the power from mains / MCB controller unit and turn on
    2. Once device enters pairing mode, open the ‘Device Manager’ page and follow steps below. Please make sure the Mobile Data is switched off at this point and phone is connected to the Wi-Fi network
    3. On Android device, click search option on top right corner of the page
      1. Devices are listed by their Device IDs. Scroll to find the device you are trying to add and click the plus (+) icon next to it
      2. The Wi-Fi LED should turn green indicating that the device is now added to Wi-Fi network. The ‘device settings’ will open where you can edit fields to the same configuration as before
      3. Repeat above steps for all devices
    4. On iOS device, click add device option
      1. Enter the Device ID & device type you wish to add and proceed
      2. The Wi-Fi LED should turn green indicating that the device is now added to Wi-Fi network. The ‘device settings’ will open where you can edit fields to the same configuration as before
      3. Repeat above steps for all devices
